John Stadjuhard
John Stajduhar began his career in historical music while a freshman at Bard College, joining Dr. Alexander Bonus’ baroque ensemble. After graduating, he spent a year in Cambridge, MA at the Longy School, studying with HP bassists Anne Trout and Andrew Arceci.
In 2019, he accepted admission to The Juilliard School’s Historical Performance program, performing regularly in the Juilliard415 Orchestra and studying with Douglas Balliet. His instrument repertoire includes 3 and 4 string bass, violones in G and D, and the Viennese Bass.
Now working as a freelance musician in New York, John has performed with such diverse groups as Philharmonia Baroque, Harmonia Stellarum Houston, Les Arts Florissants, The Smithsonian Academy Orchestra, Opera Lafayette, Kollective366, Washington Bach Consort, Philharmonie Austin, Blue Hill Bach Festival, The Academy of Sacred Drama and beyond. In his free time, John enjoys ancient history podcasts, trying new string instruments, and strong cups of espresso.
